Fabric Slashing
Steps
1. Choose fabrics or fabric scraps
2. Cut scraps and exterior fabric in desired size/shapes
3. Overlap scraps on the exterior fabric
4. Cover scraps in the exterior fabric and sew in in desired pattern
5. Cut through the layers between the stitches
6. Put in the washing machine and let the threads show
Fabric slashing is a technique most commonly used in order to use up your textiile scraps. The technique requires overlapping scraps of fabric of different textures and colours, sewing them together in an outside layer and cutting through the scraps to reveal the layers underneath
Interventions
1. Cutting through the layers using the laser cutter
2. Not using an outside layer
3. Using a needle/comb to separate all the threads and create a rug-like texture
